THE YEAR 2022
    JANUARY 2022 SUMMARY
    
     					Springfield Park Summary January 2022
     
    January was below average for most of the month, after the first 2 days, 
    when the min. temp. was actually warmer than the ave. maximum temp. 
    There were only 6 days the minimum temp. was above the average at Springfield Park. 
    This is clearly shown on the Springfield Park graph. 
    The mean temp. for January was 35.1 deg. F which was a departure of -2.65 deg. F and
     the 4th coldest on record in the past 13 years.  
    The highest daily mean for Jan. was a warm 64.3 degrees F on the 1st and the 3rd warmest on record for Jan. 
    The average minimum temperature was 24.7degrees F, a -3.2 departure for January, and the 3rd lowest on record for Jan. 
    The highest minimum of 57.1 on the 1st was a 10.2 deg. F departure and the 4th highest on record for Jan. 
    The highest maximum of 71.4 deg. F on the 1st was a 3.3F departure for January. 
    There were 28 days the minimum temperature was below freezing during the month; the average is 21.4. 
    The minimum of 10.8F on the 30th was the lowest minimum for the Jan. since Jan 22, 2019 when it was 10.7 deg. F.  
    The 31.5 deg. F temperature range on the 19th was the largest temperature range for January and
     the 7.0 deg. F temp. range was the least on the 21st.  
    The highest barometric pressure was only 30.72 inches on January 8th which was the
     5th highest maximum pressure ever recorded at this station in Jan. 
    The lowest barometer was only 29.21 on the 17th which is the 2nd lowest min. pressure on record for January.  
    The Springfield Park station broke fifteen 13-year daily records (see page 4 of this report). 
    The Airport broke or tied 5 daily records shown below.
    The snowfall for January was 8.2 inches of snow which was a positive 3.4-inch departure. 
    This was the most snow in January since 2016 when 16.4 inches was recorded. 
    The maximum wind for the month was 29 mph on the 3rd and 17th. 
    January had only 8 days with measurable precipitation which tied for the least on record but 
    January was our 2nd wettest January on record; only 2013 was wetter with 5.47 inches. 
    The total precipitation for January was 5.21 inches which was a 1.92 departure.
    
    
    					Richmond International Airport 
           
    The mean temperature was 36.5 deg. F with a departure of -1.8 deg. F. 
    This was the 51st coldest Jan since 1897. 
    The average maximum temp. was 46.6 deg F, a departure of -1.2 deg. F. 
    The average minimum temperature was 26.5 which was a -2.3 departure.   
    The minimum temp. was 32F or below on 26 days and the max. temp. was 32 or less on 2 days.  
    The highest min. temp. in Jan. was 57 F on the 1st and only 15 years since 1897 have had a warmer high min. temp. for Jan. 
    The highest is 62 F recorded in January 1998. The highest temperature for January was 73 F on the 1st. 
    The minimum temperature for January was 12 F on the 30th and the lowest January temp. since 2018 when the low was -3 deg. F.  
    The 35 F range on the 9th was the highest temp. range for month and the lowest was 7 F recorded on the 21st. 
              The Airport had 10 days with measurable precipitation giving 4.48 inches of precipitation. 
    This was a departure of 1.25 inches and tied for the 24th wettest January since 1887. 
    The Airport had 4.3 inches of snow the most since 2018 when 5.3 inches was recorded. 
    The frozen precipitation departure for January was +0.6 inches. 
    There were 7 days with measurable frozen precip. tied with 1918, 1966, 1977 and no other year has had more.
    
    The Airport had 5 daily records for the month.

FEBRUARY
    FEBRUARY 2022 SUMMARY
    
      					Springfield Park Summary January 2022 
    The mean temp. this month was 44.2 F a departure of 2.7 F. and the average max. was 56.6 F a 4.6 F departure. 
    The ave. minimum temperature this month was 31.7 F which was a 0.7 F departure.  
    February’s mean temperature made it the 6th warmest Feb. 
    The warmest day was on the 17th as the daily mean was 63.1 and the coldest was Feb. 6th with a daily mean of 29.6. 
    The lowest max. temp. for the month was 39 F on the 14th. 
    There were 16 days below freezing a departure of -1.5 days; the average is 17.5 days. 
    The month had 4 clearly shown periods warmer than average and 3 periods 
    colder than average not as clearly defined as can be observed from the graph.  
           The 1.47 inches of precipitation makes this February the 3rd driest on record with a 
    departure of -1.74 inches; only 2009 and 2014 were drier. 
    The 0.53 inches of precip. in a calendar day on the 4th was the 3rd lowest on record for Feb. 
    This month was also the 2nd clearest February on record; but the afternoons were the clearest on record. 
    The average temperature range was 24.9 F, a departure of 3.9 F, 
    which was the 2nd highest temp. range on record for February. 
    The range was high because of the many clear afternoons and the overall low cloud cover in February.
           The maximum wind gust during February was 40 mph occurring on February 17th at 0855. 
    The wind run for the month was 2566.2 miles the highest on record for February. 
    The average daily wind run was 90.4 miles also a record for Feb. 
    The highest barometer recorded for the month was 30.72 inches on the 15th which was the 4th highest for Feb.  
    Springfield Park had only a trace of snow in February giving a -3.9-inch departure.

    Richmond International Airport The mean temp. this month was 44.5 F, a departure of 3.5 F. The average max. was 56.7 F a 5.1-degree departure; only 8 Februarys have had a higher ave. max. since 1897. The ave. minimum temperature this month was 32.3 F which was a 1.9 F departure. February’s mean temperature made it the 14th warmest Feb. since 1897. The clear afternoons accounted for the large departure on the average max. and for the large temp. range of 24.4 degrees F which was the 9th highest since 1897. The total precipitation for February was 1.51 inches with a deficit of 1.10 inches which tied for the 23rd driest February since 1887. The Airport had 9 days with precip. and no measurable snow with only a trace of snow on the 13th and 14th. February had a negative 2.2-inch snowfall departure. The Richmond Airport had 2 daily records for high min. temps. (Feb 22nd 55 F new record – The old record was 52 in 1966, 1913) and (Feb. 23rd 53 F that tied the record set in 1922). The high daily mean on Feb. 22nd of 62.0 F was also a record for the date since 1897; the previous record was 61 F in 1980.

MARCH
    MARCH 2022 SUMMARY
    
    					 Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    
    March was warmer than average and above average precipitation. 
    The mean temperature for March was 51.7 degrees F which was a departure of 2.8 degrees F 
    and 17 thirteen-year daily records were recorded for March. 
    The 5.33 inches of precipitation for March was a 1.80-inch departure on the 13-year average 
    and the 3rd wettest on record and 1.82 inches more than the Airport.
    March had two cool periods (9th-14th) & 26th-30th) (See Graph). 
    Springfield Park had 9 days that the minimum temperature was less than or equal to 32 F. 
    The average is 10.8 days. The 81.3 degrees F on the 7th was the warmest temp. for this month. 
    The minimum temperature was 15.8 degrees F on the 13th and was the 4th lowest on record for March and 
    damaged some early spring plants. 
    The maximum daily temp. range for March was 37.1 degrees F on the 21st. 
    The average ground temperature at one foot for the month was 50.8 F, a 2.3 F departure.  
    The most precipitation in a one day was 1.34 inches on the 17th. 
    The 0.81 inches of rain in one hour on the 17th set a new rainfall intensity record. 
    There were only 9 days with measurable precipitation which was average for March.  
    March was average in cloudiness, relative humidity, max. temp. range but the ave. 
    daily temp. range of 24.5 was a new record for March.
    The maximum wind gust during March was 50 mph which occurred on the 7th at 1934 hours 
    from the SSW, which set a new 13-year record for March. 
    The wind run for March was 3068 miles making this March the 2nd windiest in the past 13 years.
    The highest barometer was 30.59 inches on the 4th which is near average for March. 
    The lowest reading was only 29.48 inches on the 30th which was the lowest since 2018. 
    There was 1 day with snow in March on the 12th when 1.9 inches was recorded the most since 2018 when 6.2 inches was recorded.
    
    
    					Richmond International Airport 
    The average maximum temperature was 64.0 degrees F which was 4.4 degrees F higher than average. 
    The average minimum was 40.7 degrees F which was 3.5 degrees F higher than average. 
    The mean temperature for March was 52.4 degrees F which was 4.0 degrees F above the thirty-year mean temperature. 
    This was the 14th warmest March on record since 1897. 
    March had 11 days that the high temperature was greater than or equal to 70 F. 
    The highest temp. was 81 degrees F on the 7th and the lowest temperature of 19 was on the 13th.  
    This March had 10 days that the minimum temperature was equal to or less than 32 F. 
    The lowest maximum temp. for March was 46 degrees F on the 13th and only 4 Marches have had a higher reading. 
    The record is 53 degrees F in 1953.
     The total precipitation for March was 3.89 inches which is a departure of -0.49 inches tying for the 67th driest March since 1887. 
    March had only 8 days with measurable precipitation and was 1.82 inches less than Springfield Park.    
    The Richmond International Airport had 1 daily record this March. 
    The 61 degrees F minimum temperature on the 24th was a new high min. record for the date in March; 
    the previous record was 59 degrees F in 2012. 
    The highest daily temperature range for March was 35 degrees F on the 1st and 21st and 
    the average daily temp. range was 23.4 degrees which was a 1.3 Fdeparture.
        The Airport had 0.4 inches of snow for March which was a -0.7inch departure but 
    the first measurable snow recorded in March since 2018 when 4.0 inches was reported.
    
    


APRIL
    APRIL 2022 SUMMARY
    
      					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    
    April was the third driest April on record with 2.40 inches of precipitation which was a departure of -0.94 inches.  
    March was the 3rd wettest and April was the 3 driest in the past 13 years. 
    Measurable precipitation occurred on only 6 days which was a new record for April; previous record was 8 days. 
    March had 9 days with measurable precip which ties the record for March.  
    Few spring events were canceled by precipitation. 
    The most precipitation in a calendar day this month was 1.35 inches on the 18th. 
    Without question the 18th was the most unseasonable day of the month. Snowfall occurred in Fort Valley and in the Shenandoah Valley. 
    Winchester measured 3.3 inches of snow.  
    At Springfield Park it was a very cold rain with wind gust of 21 mph and a high temp. equal to an average winter’s day.  
    The max. temp. of 47.3 degrees F on the 18th was the lowest max. temp ever recorded this late in April.  
    The month had only 2 days with thunderstorms which tied for the lowest number on record for April.
    The mean temp. for April of 58.0 F was a -1.0 deg. F departure from the 13-year average. 
    The average max. temp. was 70.3 F which was a -0.6 F departure. 
    The average min. was 45.7 degrees F which was a -1.5 F departure. 
    April was the 3rd clearest April in the past 13 years and had the third highest average daily temp. range of 24.6 degrees F. 
    Freezing temperatures were recorded on 3 days of the month and the average is 1.5 days. 
    The highest min. temp. was 64 F on the 24th and only 4 Aprils have had a lower high min. temp. for the month.
    The maximum temp. range was 36.6 F on April 11th and the minimum range was only 6.7 degrees F on the very cold April 18th.  
    There was a total of 13 records or tied records for April for the 13-year period.
    
    
    
    
    
    					Richmond International Airport 
    
    The April precipitation total was only 2.22 inches, a departure of -0.96 inches and tied for the 36th driest April since 1887. 
    The greatest daily precipitation was 1.11 inches on the 18th. 
    Measurable precip. occurred on only 6 days and only 7 Aprils have had less measurable precipitation days since 1887.
    April was the 22nd warmest April since 1897 with a mean temperature of 59 degrees F and a departure of 0.6 F above the average. 
    Freezing temperatures were recorded on 2 days in April. 
    The average max. temperature of 71.4 F was a departure of 1.0 degrees F and the 30th highest since 1897. 
    The average minimum temperature of 46.5 degrees F, with a departure of 0.1 F, was the 45th warmest since 1897. 
    The highest minimum for April was 60 degrees F on the 13th and 24th. 
    The largest daily temp. range for April was only 36 degrees F on the 11th and the lowest daily range was only 7 degrees F on the 18th.  
    The average daily temp. range was 25 degrees F which was a departure of 1.2 degrees F.
    The Airport had no new daily records or ties for April as kept by Wakefield but 
    the daily mean temp. of 74 degrees F for the 13th was a new record; the previous record was 73.5 degrees F in 1977.
    The Airport reported no snow in April. The last measurable snow for Richmond in April was one inch on April 7, 2007.   
    
    


MAY
    MAY 2022 SUMMARY
    
    					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    May, with 4.05 inches of precipitation, was the 8th wettest May of the past 13 years. 
    1.73 inches of rain fell on the 23rd & 24th which was 43% of the precip. for the entire month. 
    There were 14 days with measurable precip. but half of these were less than 0.10 inches.
    May’s mean temperature was 67.8 F a -0.4 F departure and the 6th coolest of 13 Mays on record. 
    However, Springfield Park had five 90 F days in May; only 2019 had more with seven.  
    The average max. temp. was 77.9 F a -1 F departure and the average min. was 57.8 F a 0.1 F departure. 
    The ave. relative humidity for May was 76.2% a new record high for May because of 
    cool damp days from the 5th -13th & 23rd - 27th but not humid days. 
    There were 22 daily temp. records or ties set in May. 
    The max. temp. range for May was only 31.2 F on the 17th. 
    The highest temp. for May was 94.7 on the 20th which was 2nd highest ever recorded for May in the past 13 years. 
    The lowest max. was 52.1 F on the 8th the lowest max. temp. ever recorded here in May. 
    The daily mean temp. of 83.3 F on May 21st was a new record high daily mean for May.  
    The max. heat index on the 31st was also the 2nd highest on record for May. 
    The month’s lowest daily mean was 47.4 on the 8th and was second lowest on record for May. 
    The maximum wind for the month was only 27 mph on the 8th and 27th as May had no strong storms.

    Richmond International Airport May’s precipitation was 3.86 inches which was a departure of -0.14 inches and was the 59th wettest May since 1887. The mean temp. for May was 68.5 F a 1.8 F dep. which made it the 25th warmest May on record since 1897. The average maximum for May was 78.7 F a 0.9 F departure & the 43rd warmest since 1897. The average minimum was 58.3 F a 2.6 F departure and the 15th warmest May reading since 1897. The max. temp. for May was 97 F on the 20th; only 3 Mays (1941,1991,2011) had higher max. temp. since 1897. The lowest max. temp. in May was 53F on the 8th and only 9 years have had a lower max. temp. recorded in May The Richmond International Airport had 2 daily records that either tied or were broken. 2 Record High Maximum Temperature May 20th 97 F New Record - The old record was 96 F in 1934. JUNE
    JUNE 2022 SUMMARY
    
     					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    
    The 3.70 inches of rain had a departure of -1.15 inches and June was the 5th driest June on record based
     on a 13-year average with 10 days of measurable precipitation. 
    The mean temperature for June was 74.8 F with a -1.3 F departure and was the 2nd coolest June on record in the past 13 years. 
    The highest temperature for the month was 95.0 on the 17h and there were 9 days of equal to 90 F or greater which was a -0.7day departure. 
    There were only 4 days the minimum temperature was equal to or greater than 70 F and the average is 8.9 days. 
    The average min. temp. of 63.3 F was the 2nd lowest on record for June and the highest min. for June 
    was 71.9 F on the 14th which set a new low record for June. 
    The maximum average temperature for June was 86.3 F a 0.1 F departure. 
    Springfield Park had 14 new daily records for the 13 years of records mainly for low minimum temps. 
    and for high & low temperature range records. 
    The highest daily temperature range in June was 30.2 F on June 6th which is a new maximum record for the date.  
    The minimum daily temp. range for June was only 6.3 F on June 23rd which was a new record low for the date. 
    The daily ave. temp. range for June was 22.9 F which was the 2nd highest on record for June. 
    The hottest day with the highest daily mean was 82.9 F on the 17th which was the 3rd highest on record for June
     and had the 2nd highest dew point temp. for June.
         June’s highest wind gust was 31 mph on the 30th. 
    Springfield Park had 1 strong electrical thunderstorm on the 12th that took out the power for about 12 hours and 6 weak thunderstorms. 
    The highest barometric pressure was 30.28 inches of mercury on the 29th, 
    and the lowest pressure for June was only 29.68 inches of mercury on the 2nd which was the 3rd highest in the past 13 years. 
    Cloud cover for the month was very near the average.
    
    
    					Richmond International Airport 
    
    The Richmond International Airport had 6.58 inches of precipitation for June which was a 1.94-inch departure, 
    making it the 11th wettest June on record since 1887.  
    There were only 7 days with measurable precip. but 4 days with more than one inch of rain on the 12th, 22nd, 27th, 30th.  
    The 22nd had 2.03 inches, most rain in a day, but the record for the 22nd is 7.61 inches recorded in 2018.  
    The Airport had 2.88 inches more than Springfield Park in West Henrico. 
    It is interesting that the much above ave. precip. occurred in only 7 days. 
    Only 13 years since 1887 have had less days with measurable precip.in June.
    The Airport’s mean temperature for June of 75.5 F was a 0.5 F departure from ave. and
     the 37th warmest June since 1897.  
    The Airport’s maximum temperature average for June was 86.6 F, a 1.0 F departure. 
    The Airport’s highest maximum temperature for June was 97 F on the 17th and
     the lowest maximum temperature for June was 72 F on the rainy day of the 23rd. 
    The Airport had 8 days that the maximum temperature was 90 F or higher.  
    The min. temp. average for June was 64.3 F, a -0.2 F departure. 
    The Airport had 7 days the minimum temperature was greater than or equal to 70 F for the month. 
    The daily high mean temperature (hottest day) for June was 84.0 F on the 17th.  
    The daily lowest mean temperature (coolest day) for June was 69 F on the 6th, 19th and 20th and 
    only 3 years have been higher with the record being the hot June 2010 with 71.0 F.
    The max temperature range for June was 31 F on the 22nd and the lowest was 5 F on the 23rd;

    The Airport had two daily records in June.

JULY
    JULY 2022 SUMMARY
    
    					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    July was the 5th wettest and the 7th warmest in the past 13 years and the cloudiest July on record mainly because of PM cloudiness.  
    The mean temperature of 80.2 F was very close to the 13-year average of 80.25 F. 
    The highest temperature for July was 98.4 F on the 23rd which is the 8th highest in the past 13 years for July. 
    This July had 22 days with temperatures of equal to or greater than 90 F which tied for the third highest on record for July.
    The high temperature range for July was 28.3F on the 11th and the lowest monthly daily temperature range was 9.6 F on the 10th.  
    The July 10th max. temp. of 73.1 F was the lowest max. ever recorded in July; the previous record was 73.3 F. 
    The daily mean for the 10th was 68.3 F which made it the coolest July day in the past 13 years. 
    The average temperature range for July was 20.2 F which is near the 13-year average of 20.4 degrees F.  
    The highest min. temp. was 75.7 F on the 18th and 21st which was the second lowest on record for July
    The Richmond International Airport had 3.66 inches less precip. than Springfield Park.  
    Springfield Park had 5.14 inches of precipitation, a departure of 0.84 inches, and 
    the Richmond International Airport had 1.48 inches, a departure of -2.89 inches. 
    Rainfall from thunderstorms was quite variable for July over the area. Springfield Park had 11 days of measurable precip.

    The lowest maximum temperature was 73 F on July 10th which tied the daily record for the date.
     The highest daily mean temp. was 86.0 F on the 24th. The average maximum temperature was 90.7 F which was a 1.2 F departure.  
    The average minimum was 70.7 F which was a 1.5 F departure for the month.  
    July had 21 days with temperatures of equal to or greater than 90 F and 21 nights the low temperature was 70 F or higher;
     the average is 14 nights for the period since 1880. 
    The daily temperature range for July was 20.0 F.  The maximum daily temperature range for the month was only 26 F on the 17th; 
    only 17 years had a lower max. monthly range since 1897. The min. temp. range was 8 degrees F on the 10th.

    AUGUST 2022 SUMMARY

    August was a little above average in the first ten days and last ten days with a very cool period for mid-month (Aug-11th-20th).
    August was the 3rd driest and the 8th warmest in the past 14 years. 
    The 3.00 inches of rain for August was a -2.27-inch departure based on a 14-year average. 
    The most rain in a 24-hour period was 1.19 inches from 5:30 pm of the 5th to 5:30 pm of the 6th. 
    The maximum rainfall rate for one hour was 0.48 inches which was the 3rd lowest for the month of August.
    The monthly mean temperature for August was 78.2 F which was a 0.3 F departure. 
    The maximum temperature for August was 96.6 F on the 4th and the warmest night was 75.3 F on the 9th.  
    August had 16 days of equal to or greater than 90 F heat which tied for 5th place. 
    The lowest August min. was 57.4 F on the 13th and there were 12 nights the temperature was equal to or greater than 70 F 
    which tied for the 7th least on record for August.

    September with 3.27 inches of precipitation was the 7th driest September on record in the past 14 years. 
    The wettest September recorded 8.54 inches in 2018 and the driest Sep. had 0.17 inches in 2019.  
    The greatest 24-hour rain was 1.65 inches on the 11th.  
    Sept. had 9 days with measurable precip; the average is 9.7 days. 
    The monthly mean temperature was 71.2 degrees F, a -0.8 degrees F departure and the 8th coolest on record. 
    The ave. maximum temp. was 82.2 degrees F a 0.5 F departure. 
    The ave. minimum was 60.2 F which was a -2.1 degrees F departure.  
    The lowest max. temp. for this Sep. was 58.2 F on the 30th and was the lowest max. temp. ever recorded at
     this station in the month of Sep.

    OCTOBER 2022 SUMMARY
    
     					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    October was very cool and dry. The average maximum 67.6 F (departure -3.8), average minimum 45.8 F 
    (departure -4.7) and average mean temp. 56.7 F (departure -4.3) were all new records lows for Springfield Park. 
    The graph also shows almost all of the month was below average in temp. for both the max. and min. temperatures; 
    it was the chilliest October on record. 
    The highest maximum temperature for Oct. was only 80.6 F on October the 7th a -5.2 deg. F departure. In October 2, 2019, 
    both the Airport and Springfield, had a 98 F for the maximum an interesting comparison. 
    October had only one 80-degree day which tied with 2015 for the least 80 F days in October. 
    The average ground temp. at one foot was 61.3 F which was a 14-year record low average.  
    The highest daily mean temperature (the warmest day) was 65.0 F on the 7th and 16th setting a new 
    14-year record low which was 5.8 F lower than the previous record. 
    The highest min. temperature for Oct. was 58.2 F on Oct. 13th; the previous record was 60 F in 2009.
    Oct. had 10 days with measurable precip. which is near average but it was the 2nd driest on record in 
    the past 14 years with only 2.06 inches and a negative 2.41-inch departure. 
    The driest was 2008 with only 1.13 inches and the 0.52 inches in a calendar day was a new low record.
    October was near average in cloudiness even though the first 5 days were cloudy and very chilly for October.  
    Springfield Park set 17 fourteen-year daily records for the month, 9 of which were for record low max. and 
    min. temperatures.

    the coolest October since 2015 and the 33rd coolest October since 1897. 
    This was the coolest October at the Airport since 2015 which had a mean temp. of 57.6 F and the next 
    coolest was 1999 with 57.2 F. 
    The average maximum was 68.6 degrees, a -2.3 F departure, and the average minimum was 46.8 degrees
     which was a -2.2 F departure. 
    October’s highest maximum temperature was 82 F on the 7th and only 17 Octobers have been lower since 1897. 
    October’s highest minimum temperature was 59 F on the 1st and 13th and only 11 Octobers have been lower since 1897. 
    The lowest maximum temperature for October was 55 degrees on the 3rd. 
    The highest daily mean minimum temp. for October was 67 F on the 7th and only 5 Octobers since 1897 
    have had a lower reading. The record is only 64 F in 1987.
    The Richmond International Airport had 1 daily record tied for the month. 
    On the 4th the 57 F maximum tied the record set 1996 for the lowest max. temp. for the date in October.

    The Airport had only 1.91 inches of precipitation, a departure of -1.48 inches, with 9 days of measurable precipitation.

    November was extremely warm for the first 12 days with a rare 70.1 degrees F at midnight on the Dec 6th. 
    The next ten days were below average and the remaining days were above average.
    The precip. for Nov. was 3.47 inches which was a departure of 0.09 inches making it the 8th wettest Nov. since 2008.
    The most precip. in a day and in a 24 -hour period was 1.24 inches on the 15th. 
    Precipitation occurred on only 7 days and the 0.16 inches of rain in 5 minutes on Nov. 27th 
    tied for third place for the most intense 5 min. precip.
    This November’s mean of 51.6 degrees F, a departure of 2.7 degrees from the 14-year ave., 
    was the 5th warmest on record.   
    The highest maximum temp. for November was 83.2 degrees on the 7th. 
    This month also had 2 days equal to or warmer than 80 degrees which is a new 14-year record for Nov.

The 3.71 inches of precipitation was a departure of -0.65 inches making this month the 36th wettest November since 1887. November had only 5 days with measurable precipitation. Only 14 Novembers since 1887 have had less days with precip. The Airport’s greatest daily precipitation was only 1.30 inches on the 11th. There was no snow in November at the Airport.     December was the third coldest and fifth wettest on record. 
    The monthly mean temperature was 39.7  F, a -3.1 degrees F departure from the 14-year average.  
    The extreme cold of Christmas Eve set a new low temp. record for December of 5.8 degrees F which was 
    7.2 degrees colder than the previous 14-year record minimum. 
    The Christmas Eve daily mean was 14.6 F which was 5.8 F lower than the previous record set in 2017. 
    The lowest max. temp. of 23.4 F occurred on the 24th which was the lowest max. temp. ever recorded in December.
     On 19 days the min. temperature dropped to freezing or below; the average is 18.6 days for Dec. 
    The highest temp. was 69.1 degrees F on the 30th.
    The highest barometric pressure of the month was 30.59 inches and was recorded on the 2nd. 
    The lowest barometer was 29.30 inches of mercury on the 23rd and 
    the highest wind gust of 35 mph was recorded on the same day ahead of the extreme cold front.
    December didn’t have even a trace of snow which hasn’t happened since 2015. 
    The precipitation total for the month was 5.22 inches a departure of 1.17 inches. 
    There were 10 days with measurable precipitation in December. 
    The max precip. in a day was 2.31 inches on the 15th and the 2nd greatest recorded in a day in Dec.  
    The total precipitation for the year was 44.32 inches with a departure of -4.19 inches making it the

    the lowest ever recorded at this station in the month of December.

    December’s lowest min. temp. was 8 degrees F on the 24th; only 12 Decembers since 1897 have had a colder reading. 
    The lowest maximum temp. for Dec. was 24 degrees F. The lowest on record is 13 degrees F in 1917. 
    No year since 1989 has had a lower maximum temp. for Dec.
     Note on the Airport Graph on the 24th the maximum temp. was so low it dipped below the average minimum temp. for the date.
