    JANUARY 2019 SUMMARY

    January had only some minor extremes and a balance of these gave a near average month. 
    The departures are small for the month. January was the fourth cloudiest month recorded at this station in the past ten years.  
    January had 11 days with measurable precipitation which was a 1.7 day departure and had the 5th lowest precipitation amount in the past 10 years. 
    The average relative humidity for January was 72 percent, the highest departure for January, 
    at +6.7 percent for the month which was related to the higher than average cloud cover.
    The average minimum temperature was 29.0 F a 1.9 F departure for January. The highest minimum was 43.6 F a -3.0 departure. 
    The highest maximum of 68.0 on the 1st was exactly average for January. 
    The average ground temperature at one foot for January was 43.6 F a departure of 1.8 F for the month.  
    January’s monthly mean temp. was 38.4 F, a +1.3 F departure. 
    There were 2 days that the maximum temperature was 32 F or less and 20 days the minimum temperature was below freezing during the month;
    the average is 21.4 F or a -1.4 day departure.   
    The minimum of 10.7 F on the 22nd was the lowest minimum for the month a 3.2 F departure.

    The Airport had no new daily records for January an indication of no real extreme weather. 
    The 13 F temperature on January 31st was the lowest temperature for January and the 68 F on the 1st was the highest for January. 
    The 4 F temperature range on the 13th was the lowest for the month; only 24 January months have had less. 
    The 34 F range on the 20th & 23rd was the highest temp. range. 
    The mean temperature was 39.1 F with a departure of 1.2 F making it the 47th warmest mean in 122 years.
    The average minimum temperature was 29.9 F which was a 1.6 F departure. 
    The average maximum temp. was 48.3 a departure of 0.9 F. 
    The maximum temperature was below freezing on only two days. The minimum temp. was below freezing on 19 days. 
    The 2.62 inches of precipitation was a departure of -0.42 inches making it the 51st driest January since 1887.

FEBRUARY
    FEBRUARY 2019 SUMMARY

    February’s mean temperature was 43.7 F, a +2.4 F departure. 
    The warmest day was on the 6th as the daily mean was 60.3 F.  
    There were only 12 days below freezing a departure of -5.9 days; the average is 17.9 days. 
    The 3rd to 8th and 13th to 16th were warm then near average temperatures from the 16th to the 28th.  
    The 5.42 inches of precipitation makes this February the wettest on record with a departure of 2.71 inches. 
    The maximum 24-hour precipitation amount of 1.58 inches was the 2nd highest recorded for February. 
    February had 13 days with measurable precipitation which tied for 2nd place. 
    This month was also the 2nd cloudiest February on record; the record was set just last year. 
    The average relative humidity was 71.2% the 2nd highest for February. 
    The average temperature range was 20.2 F which was only 1.3 F from being the lowest on record for February.
    The maximum wind gust during February was only 28 mph 
    which was a new low reading for the month that occurred on February 13th, 24th, 25th. 
    The average high wind for the day was 16.1 mph which was also a new low for February. 
    The wind run for the month was 1848 miles the 4th lowest for February. 
    The highest barometer recorded for the month was 30.76 inches, on the 9th which was the 3rd highest for Feb.  
    The lowest was 29.54 inches on the 24th and was the 2nd highest minimum barometric pressure on record for February. 
    Glen Allen had only 1.4 inches of snow in February a -2.8 inch departure.
     
     
          				Springfield Park Winter Season December, January, February 2018-19
    Winter Season December, January, February 2019-2019 Glen Allen had 12.87 inches of precipitation the 3rd wettest winter in the past 10 winters, a surplus of 3.16 inches. This was the wettest winter since 2015-16 when 14.53 inches of precipitation was recorded. Average is 9.71 inches. Temperature wise this winter was 1 F warmer than average. The warmest winter was 44.2 F in 2016-17 and the coldest winter was 2009-10 when the average temperature was 35.9 F. Richmond International Airport The Richmond Airport had 1 daily record for February. The lowest daily temperature range on the 23rd was 3 F; the previous record was 4 F in 1920, 1969, 1994. Since 1897 only 5 times has the temperature range been less than 3 F in February. The Airport’s average maximum temperature of 54.2 F was a 2.9 F departure. The maximum temperature this month was 75 F on the 5th. The minimum temperature this month was 18 F on the 2nd. The average minimum temperature of 34.2 F was a departure of 3.7 F. February’s mean temperature was 44.2 F a departure of 3.3 F. Only 13 times since 1897 has February been warmer and 20 times since 1880. The total precipitation for February was 3.69 inches making it the 43rd wettest February since 1887 with a 0.93 inch departure. February had a negative 3.3 inch snowfall departure. Richmond Winter Season Dec, Jan, Feb 2018-19
    Winter Season Dec, Jan, Feb 2017-18 Richmond had its 57rd warmest winter since 1880 and the 60th wettest winter in the past 146 winters. The Airport had 9.76 inches of precipitation this winter which was a 0.70 inch surplus for the winter season making this the wettest winter since 2015-16 when 13.59 inches of precipitation was recorded. It is interesting how much less precipitation the Airport received than Springfield Park Station with 12.87 inches.


MARCH
    MARCH 2019 SUMMARY
    
    					 Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    
    
    March was a little colder than average with near average precipitation. 
    The mean temperature for March was 46.7 F which was a departure of -1.5 F.   
    March had two cool periods (4th-10th & 17th-23rd) and two warm periods (13th -16th & 23rd-31st). 
    Springfield Park had 14 days that the minimum temperature was =32 F. 
    The average is 11.4 days. The 78.0 F on the 29th was the maximum for March. 
    The minimum temperature was 21.4 F on the 7th. 
    This is the first March since 2014 that the maximum temperature never reached 80 F.  
    March had only 6 days that the high temperature was =70 F and the average is 7 days. 
    The maximum temperature range for March was 40.7 F on the 24th which was the 2nd highest range on record for March. 
    The average ground temperature at one foot for the month was 48.1 F which was a -0.2  departure. 
    The average relative humidity was 65.7% which was a +2.0% departure for March.
    The 3.54 inches of precipitation for March was a -0.02 inches departure on the 10-year average and the 6th wettest on record.  
    The most precipitation in a one day was 1.84 inches on the 21th which was a new record for March. 
    There were 13 days with measurable precipitation which was the 2nd greatest for March at Springfield Park.  
    The maximum wind gust during March was 36 mph which occurred on the 15th at 1159 hours from the SSE, 
    which ties for the 2nd lowest on record for March. 
    On March 15th a wind run of 214.1 miles was recorded the 3rd highest on record. 
    This was the highest reading since March 2, 2018 when 237.2 miles was recorded.
    The highest barometer was 30.51 inches on the 27th which is the 4th highest March barometric pressure for Glen Allen. 
    The lowest reading was only 29.62 inches on the 22nd which was the highest minimum reading for Springfield Park on record. 
    (Records for 10 years)

    					Richmond International Airport 
    
    The average maximum temperature was 58 F which was -2.0 F lower than average. 
    The average minimum was 36.2 F which was -0.8 F lower than average. The mean temperature for March was 47.2 F 
    which was -1.4 F below the thirty-year mean temperature. 
    This was the 50th coldest March on record since 1897. March had only 6 days that the high temperature was greater than or equal to 70 F. 
    The highest temperature was 77  F on the 14th, 29th, 30th and the lowest temperature of 21 was on the 7th.  
    This March had 12 days that the minimum temperature was =32 F. 
    The total precipitation for March was 3.86 inches which is a departure of -0.18 inches making it the 49th wettest March since 1887. 
    March had 13 days with measurable precipitation and was the wettest since 2013 when 5.57 inches was recorded.    
    The Richmond International Airport had one daily record this March. 
    The 63 F minimum temperature on 15th was a new high minimum record for the date in March; the previous record was 60 F in 1913 and 1946. 
    Only 9 times since 1897 has March had such a warm night; the record high minimum for the month of March is 68 F in 1913. 
    The highest daily temperature range for March was 43 F on the 24th which was the greatest recorded in March since 1994 when another 43 F range occurred. 
    Only 8 years has March seen a higher daily temperature range since 1897.
    There wasn’t even a trace of snow in March which was the first time since 2007.
    
    
    
    


APRIL
    APRIL 2019 SUMMARY
    
      					Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    It was surprising that April was the second warmest on record with a mean temperature of 61.6 F a 2.5 F departure from the April mean. 
    The warmest April was 2017 with a mean temperature of 64.6 F. 
    The average maximum of 73.2 F was the 3rd highest for April and the average minimum temperature of 49.9 F was the second highest for April. 
    The maximum temperature of 45.6 F on the 2nd was the lowest maximum temperature on record for April at the Springfield Park station.
    April was the second wettest at Glen Allen with a total of 3.63 inches, a departure of only 0.33 inches based on the average of the past 10-years. 
    Measurable precipitation occurred on 12 days. 1.73 inches of precipitation fell on the 4 Fridays of the month or 48% of April’s total. 
    The cloud cover was above average and tied for the cloudiest April. 
    The average relative humidity was 70.1% and was 6.6% above the average making it the highest average relative humid on record for April. 
    The temperature range for April was 23.4 F. 
    The maximum range of 41 F on April 3rd that was also the second highest range on record for April at the Springfield Park station. 
    The minimum range of 6.9 F on April 13th was near the record low of 5 F recorded in 2018.
    The lowest minimum temperature was 26.5 F recorded on the 1st.  Freezing temperatures were recorded on the first 3 days of the month. 
    The 26.5 F reading was the third lowest temperature ever record at the Springfield Station in April. 
    The maximum wind gust was 35 mph from the south that occurred on April 15th at 1:55 AM during a thunderstorm. 
    
    					Richmond International Airport
    April was the fourth warmest April since 1880 with a mean temperature of 62.2 F and was a departure of 4.0 F above the average. 
    The previous 3 records were 64.22 in 2017, 63.15 recorded in 1994 and 62.23 F in 2010. Note the years are all rather recent. 
    The average maxmum temperature of 73.6 F was a departure of 3.3 F. 
    The average minimum temperature of 50.8 F was the second highest since 1880 with a departure of 4.7 F. 
    The record high minimum average for April is 53.2 F set in 2017. 
    
    The Airport had 3 daily records or ties for April.
    April 2nd tied the low maximum of 46 F on the 2nd with 1907.
    April 5th tied the record low temperature range of 7 F with 1993.
    April 19th the new record high minimum was 65 F; the previous record was 63 in 2013, 1985.
    The April precipitation total was 3.08 inches, a departure of -0.19 inches. This was still the 62nd wettest April since 1887.
       
    The greatest daily precipitation was 0.83 inches on the 26th.
    The Airport reported no snow in April. The last measurable snow for Richmond in April was one inch on April 7, 2007. 
    The latest measurable snow for Richmond is 0.2 inches recorded on April 21, 1953. 
    The 2.5 inches of snow in the Richmond records on April 28, 1898 is wrong as the snow melted as it fell. 
    The melted precipitation was 0.25 inches and using the 10 to 1 ratio of snow to liquid they recorded 2.5 inches; it should have been recorded as a trace of snow.

    MAY 2019 SUMMARY

    May’s mean temperature was 72.6 F a +4.0 F departure and the 2nd warmest May on record for Glen Allen; 2018 was the warmest. 
    It was the first time Springfield Park had seven 90 F days in May; the previous 10-year record was only four. 
    The average maximum was 83.5 F a +4.5 F departure and the average minimum was 61.7 F a +3.4 F departure. 
    The maximum temperature for May was 94.2 F on the 29th which tied for the highest temperature recorded at this station in May. 
    The month’s lowest minimum was 41.8 F on the 15th. 
    Note that on the graph for the month both the maximum and minimum were above the average for 
    most days of May and the 13th-16th were the only really cool days. 
    May was not only warm but humid on many days. 
    The average relative humidity was 74.6 percent which tied for the third highest for May. 
    The average ground temp. at 1 ft. was 69.9 F the highest on record for May.
    May, with 3.77 inches of precipitation, was the 4th driest May on record and had much less than the Airport 
    with 5.83 inches giving them a 2.05 inch surplus.  
    The 1.31 inches of rain on the 31st at Springfield Park was 53% of our total May precipitation.  
    The total wind run of 2198.1 miles which was the second greatest for May. 
    The average daily wind run was 70.9 miles which was also the second greatest on record for May. 
    The maximum wind for the month was only 24 mph on the 23rd and only May 2015 had a lower maximum wind for May. 
    May had only 4 days with thunder which tied for the second least on record for May. 
    May was the third clearest on record with only 10 days with measurable rainfall.

    Richmond International Airport May was the 3rd warmest since 1880 and the warmest was 2018. The mean temperature for May was 72.7 F a +6.3 F departure which made it the 3rd warmest May on record since 1880. Since 1880 the warmest May mean temperature was 73.4 F in 2018 and the second warmest was 73.1 F in May 2004. The average maximum for May was 83.5 F a +5.6 F departure and the 4th warmest since 1897. The average minimum was 61.9 F a +6.9 F departure and the 3rd warmest on record since 1897. The maximum temperature for May was 95 F on the 29th. Only 6 Mays have had a higher May temperature since 1897. The lowest recorded temperature in May was 44 F recorded on the 15th. The average temperature range for May was 21.6 F which was the 35th lowest temperature range for the month. The highest temperature range during May was 29 F on May 15th and May 23rd. Only the year 2011 equaled this low temperature range. The 83.0 F daily mean temperature on the 29th was the 4th highest on record for May The Richmond International Airport had 5.83 inches of rain which actually made this May the 15th wettest since 1887. Thunderstorms cause great variability in precipitation amounts. The 1.77 inches of rain that fell on the 31st was the 15th greatest daily rain in May since 1887. The Richmond International Airport had 6 daily records that either tied or were broken. JUNE
    JUNE 2019 SUMMARY
    
     						Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA
    June had a great dichotomy in precipitation. 
    Between June 5th and June 13th Springfield Park had 8.04 inches of precipitation or 95% of the month’s rainfall. 
    On the 7th and 8th Springfield Park had 4.32 inches in 24 hours. 
    This was the second greatest on record in the past ten years. 
    The record is 6.10 inches in 24 hours on May 17th and 18th 2018. 
    June’s precipitation departure was 3.86 inches. 
    It seems incredible that lawns and garden were suffering my the month’s end from drought conditions. 
    But this period of access was followed by 17 day with only 0.04 inches of additional rainfall. 
    Also, the deficit period had 9 days with temperatures = 90 F.  
    Thunder was heard on only 3 days during June which tied for the least on record for June and 
    none of the 3 thunderstorms were severe. 
    The 3.81 inches on the 7th was the greatest rainfall on record for a calendar day in June. 
     The 8.44 inches total for the month was also the greatest total on record for June. 
    The 2.40 inches in one hour on the 7th was the second greatest hourly maximum rainfall for Springfield Park
     for June and the third greatest for all months. 
    June had 3 days with an inch or more rain for the day only June 2015 had more with 4 days.
    The mean temperature for June was 75.2 F with a - 0.9 F departure which was the third coolest June on record. 
    The highest temperature for the month was 95.7 F on the 29th. 
    There were 8 days the minimum temperature was = 70 F and the average is 9 days. 
    The maximum average temperature for June was 85.4 F a -0.9 F departure.
    The average minimum temperature for June was 65.0 F a -0.7 F departure. 
    The lowest temperature was 49.4 F on the 4th which is the lowest on record for this station.  
    Springfield Park had 25 new daily records for the 10 years of records.

    The maximum wind for June at this station was 31 mph on the 5th at 1602 preceding a thunderstorm and 
    tied for third lowest maximum wind speed for June as there wasn’t any strong thunderstorms

    The Richmond International Airport had 5.14 inches of precipitation for June which was a +1.21-inch departure, 
    making it the 42nd wettest June on record since 1897.  
    There were only 11 days with precipitation and 2 days had more than one inch of rain on the 7th and 10th.  
    The most rain in a day was 1.69 inches on June 7th.
            The Airport’s maximum temperature average for June was 85.9 F a -0.2 F departure. 
    The Airport’s highest maximum temperature for June was 97 F on the 29th and lowest maximum temperature 
    for June was 75 F on the 7th. 
    The Airport had 9 days the maximum temperature was = 90 F.  
    The Airport’s minimum temperature average for June was 65.8 F a +1.3 F.

JULY
    JULY 2019 SUMMARY

    July was the 3rd hottest, 3rd lowest precipitation and the 3rd clearest skies of the past 11 years.
    The mean temperature of 81.8 F which was 1.9 F departure from the 11-year average and 
    the 3rd hottest July on record. 
    The highest mean temperature for July was 82.7 F in 2012. 
    This July had 24 days with temperatures of =90 F which was a new record number of days for July; 
    the July average is 16.7 days. 
    Springfield Park had 13 consecutive days of =90 F from July 10th to July 22nd. 
    The max. temperature was 102.3 F on the 21st and the 3rd highest on record for July. 
    The average maximum temperature for July is 98.7 F at Springfield Park. 
    The lowest minimum temperature was 62.5 F on the 25th which was the 3rd highest on record for July. 
    The high temperature range for July was 29.9 F on the 2nd and 
    the lowest monthly daily temperature range was 13 F on the 23rd. 
    The average temperature range for July was 22.0 F which was the 3rd highest in the past 11 years. 
    The higher temperature range was caused by the drier conditions and lower relative humidity at Springfield Park. 
    The Richmond International Airport had 3.54 inches more rain than Springfield Park. 
    The drier conditions at Springfield Park resulted in higher daytime temperatures than at the Airport.
    Springfield Park had only 2.68 inches of precipitation a departure of -1.71 inches and 
    the Richmond International Airport had 6.22 inches a departure of +1.71 inches. (Unusual coincidence) 
    Rainfall from thunderstorms was quite variable for July over the area.   
    Springfield’s 2.68 inches monthly precipitation was the 3rd driest for July in the past 11 years 
    with only 8 days of measurable precipitation. 
    The maximum precipitation recorded in a calendar day was 1.05 inches which was the 3rd lowest on record. 
    Twenty of the July mornings were clear which tied with 2011 for the 11-year record for July.
    The highest wind gust was 30 mph from the NNW on the 11th at 1900 hours the 4th highest on record for July. 
    The average relative humidity of 72.4 percent was 4.4% lower than 2018. 
    The highest barometer of 30.31 inches on the 27th tied for the 3rd highest on record for July.

    The Richmond International Airport’s average mean temperature was 81.5 F which was a departure of 2.2 F and 
    was the 6th warmest since 1897 and the 7th warmest since 1880.  
    The average maximum temperature was 92.3 F, a 2.6 F departure and is the 7th warmest since 1897.  
    The average minimum was 70.8 F which was a 1.9 F departure and is the 15th warmest since 1897. 
    July had 22 days with temperatures of =90 F. The Airport had 12 consecutive days of =90 F from the 11th to the 22nd.  
    July also had 20 nights the low temperature was 70 F or higher; the average is 14.4 for the 123-year period. 
    The maximum daily temperature range for the month was 29 F on the 2nd and the minimum range was 10 F on the 23rd. 
    The highest monthly temperature was 100 F on the 21st. 
    The lowest maximum temperature was only 76 F on July 23rd which was a record low maximum temperature for the date.

AUGUST
    AUGUST 2019 SUMMARY
    
    						Springfield Park, Glen Allen, VA 
    August was the wettest and the third most humid on record with a tease of fall on the cool mornings of the 29th and 30th. 
     The 7.96 inches of rain for August was a +3.90-inch departure based on a 11-year average.
     August had 2.81 inches on the 3rd and 4th which was the 2nd most rainfall in a 24-hour period.
     The month had 13 precipitation days and tied for the 3rd most on record for August. 
    Springfield Park’s 19.08 inches of precip. for the summer made 2019 the 2nd wettest summer. 
    The record was 19.75 inches in the summer of 2013. 
    The Richmond International Airport had only 2.29 inches which was a -2.37-inch departure and 
    5.67 inches less than the Springfield Park Station.
    The monthly mean temperature for August was 78.2 F which was only +0.5  F departure based on a 11-year average. 
    The maximum temperature for August was 97.1 F on the 19th and the warmest night was 74.4 F also on the 19th. 
     August had 17 days of =90 F the 3rd greatest number of =90 F days for August. 
    The lowest August minimum was 58.6 F on the 30th and there were 12 nights the temperature was =70 F.

    Richmond International Airport The Richmond International Airport’s average mean temperature was 79.0 F a departure of +1.5 F and the 15th hottest since 1897. The average maximum was 89.6 F, a 2.0 F departure, and the average minimum was 68.4 F which was a 1.0 F departure. This August had 18 days with temperatures of =90 F and 13 nights the low temperature was =70 F; the average is 10.9 for the 121-year period.     September with 0.17 inches of precipitation was not only the driest September on record but the driest of all months at this station.  
    The previous driest Sep. had 1.52 inches in 2013 and the previous driest month was 0.46 inches in November 2012.
    It had also the least rain in any 24-hour period, 5-minute period, and 1-hour period in September. 
    Sept. had only 5 days with measurable precip. which tied 2009, and 2013 for the least number of days of precipitation.
    The monthly mean temperature was 75.76 F a +3.9 F departure. 
    Last year it was 75.78 F nearly the same but 2018 had 8.54 inches of precipitation a record high and 
    this year had only 0.17 inches a record low. 
    The ave. maximum was 86.6 F a 5.1 F departure, and the ave. minimum was 64.9 F which was a 2.5 F departure.  
    The lowest minimum temperature for the month was 47.9 F on the 20th and the highest was 96.5  F on the 12th 
    which was 3.2 F above the 11-year average monthly maximum. 
    September had the 3rd clearest skies in the past 11-years and the clear nights and clear days gave a large average temperature range of 21.6 F.  
    Last year’s average was only 15.6  F because of all the rain and cloudiness. 
    This September had 11 days with temps. of =90 F; the previous record was 6. 
    September also had 20 days with temperatures of =85 F; the previous record was 14.

    The Richmond International Airport’s had 0.42 inches of precipitation because they had 0.38 inches from Dorian on the 6th and 
    Springfield Park had only a trace. 
    It was the driest Sep. at the Airport since 2005 when they had only 0.08 inches which was the driest Sep. since 1872. 
    The 0.42 inches was also the driest month since November of 2012 when 0.27 inches was recorded. 
    It tied for the 5th driest month since 1872. (2005 0.08, 1884 0.15, 1978 0.26, 1906 0.35, 1895 0.42) 
    The Airport had only 3 days with precipitation; only September of 1922 had less since 1887.
    The ave. mean temperature was 76.3 F a departure of +5.7 F and the 5th warmest since 1880 and the 3rd warmest since 1897. 
    The mean for September 2018 was 76.4 F. 
    The ave. maximum was 87.6 F, a 6.4 F departure, and the ave. minimum was 64.9 F which was a 4.8 F departure. 
    This Sept. had 12 days with temperatures of =90 F. 
    The ave. temperature range was 22.7 a 2.0  F departure; last year it was 15.1 F, a departure -5.6 F, and 
    the lowest temperature range on record since 1897 for Sept. 
    The highest temperature range for Sept. was only 35 F on the 21st which was the highest temperature range for Sept. since 1994. 
    The highest max. temperature was 98 F on the 12th and the lowest minimum temperature was 49 F on the 20th. 
    Only 12 years have had a higher maximum temp. for Sept. since 1897. 
    The lowest max. temp. for Sept. was 75 F on the 19th; only two years have had a higher reading which were 1968 and 1954.

    OCTOBER 2019 SUMMARY

    October started out with record breaking heat. Drought conditions continued in Henrico from August 28th to October 15th 
    and Henrico was asking for voluntary water restrictions on October 10th.  
    On October 16th a low pressure formed on a cold front and moved up the coast giving Springfield Park 1.88 inches of rain.  
    Then the remnants of Nestor gave 1.71 inches on the 20th. 
    Before these rains the James River was 3.4 feet at the Westham gauging station. 
    The total October precipitation was 5.39 inches, a 1.13 inch departure, with only 9 days with measurable precipitation which 
    tied for the 3rd least on record. 
    It was fortunate that the last half of the month was wet to help break the drought.
    The highest temperature for the month was 98.4 F which was the highest ever recorded for October by 7.2 F in the past 11 years. 
    The average maximum was 73.3 F, a 2.3 F departure, and the average minimum was 52.3 F which was a 3.2 F departure. 
    The monthly mean temperature was 63.3 F a departure of 3.0 F and was the 2nd warmest October on record in the past 11 years. 
    This October had 2 days with a temperature of =90 F. The lowest minimum temperature was 36.5 F on the 18th with a 
    slight frost and even the sensitive plants survived. 
    October was the 3rd cloudiest on record and had a 77% average humidity. 
    The average temperature range of 20.1 F which tied for the 3rd lowest on record.
    The maximum wind gust of 42 mph on the 31st from a strong cold front set a new record maximum wind gust for October. 
    The highest one-day wind run was also on the 31st with a wind run of 169.6 miles.

    The Richmond International Airport’s average mean temperature was 63.8 F a departure of 4.1 F and the 7th hottest since 1897 
    and the 9th warmest since 1880. 
    The average maximum was 73.9 F, a 2.9 F departure, and the average minimum was 53.7 F which was a 5.4 F departure and was the 
    6th warmest since 1897. 
    This October had 2 days with temperatures of =90 F. October had 19 days the high temperature was =70 F. 
    The maximum for the month was 98 F on the 2nd and the only year since 1897 that had a higher temperature in October was 1941 
    with a high of 99 F on October 6, 1941. 
    The lowest maximum temperature for October was 61 F on the 26th and 30th and only October 1995 had a higher observation of 63 F.
    The Airport had 4.66 inches of precipitation, a departure of 1.68 inches, with 9 days of measurable precipitation.

    This November’s mean of 45.4 was the coldest on record. 
    The highest daily mean was 56.2 F on the 5th also a new low record. 
    It was the fourth driest on record (records since 2008) as the monthly precipitation was 1.65 inches,
     a negative 2.10 inches departure when compared with Glen Allen’s 11-year average. 
    Precipitation occurred on 10 days in November and cloud cover was near average. 
          The maximum temperature for November was 71.2 F on the 5th which was the a new 11-year record low monthly maximum. 
    The average maximum temperature was 56.1 F which was the second lowest in the past 11 years.   
    The lowest minimum was 20.5 F recorded on the 14th which tied for the 3rd lowest for November. 
    The highest minimum was only 49.4 F which was a -9.2 F departure, a new record for November. 
    There were 12 days that the minimum temperature was less than or equal to 32 F which was 3.4 days more than average.  
    The 0.3 inches of snow on the 12th was the most snow ever recorded in November at Springfield Park. 
    The maximum wind gust was only 28 mph on the 27th the fourth lowest on record.

The 1.80 inches of precipitation recorded this month was the 51st driest Nov. of the past 132 years. This was a negative 1.44-inch departure from normal with a total of 11 days with measurable precipitation. The Airport’s greatest daily precipitation was 0.76 inches on the 12th. The warmest day was November 5th with 70 F and only 5 years have had a lower maximum temperature for Nov. The average maximum was 56.0 F which was the 18th lowest on record. The warmest daily minimum was 47 F which was the 2nd lowest on record; only 1910 had a lower reading of 45 F. The Airport had 1 daily record for the month on the 13th as the daily mean was 30.5 F, the lowest daily mean on record for the date.           December was the 4th warmest and the 7th wettest on record. 
    There were only 7 daily records at the Springfield Park Station for the 11-year period which
    is the least on record since recording all daily records. 
    The monthly mean temperature was 43.3 F, a 1.0 F departure from the 11-year average and the warmest December since 2015.
    December had its highest maximum temperature of 72.6 F on December 30th but had only 2 days of =65 F for the month.
    The 72.6 F was the highest temp. recorded in December since 2015 when 76 was recorded which is the highest on record for December. 
    The Airport recorded 73 F on the 30th which was a new daily record for the date.
    December had 17 days that Springfield Park had temperatures that were =32 F.
    Only five Decembers in the past 11-years have had more. 
    The lowest temperature was only 19.6 F occurring on the 19th.
