Remarks for the Time Period
0      1010 hrs.   T  T  22.5  Snow just started as very fine broken snow crystals and a dew point temp. of 12 degrees F in a very dry air mass.
1      1100 hrs.   T  T  22.2  The street is starting to get white as with the low temps. none of the snow is melting but still not quite enough snow to measure yet. The snowfall intensity just started increasing around 1045.
2      Noon hrs.   0.3  0.02  21.8  Light snow this past hour and the dew point has increased to 18 degrees F.
3      1300 hrs.   0.7  0.07  22.0  Light snow increased to a moderate rate around 1245 and the dew point is now 19 degrees F. At 1250 sleet was mixed in with the snow and by 1300 it was all sleet. The max. wind gust this past hour was 15 mph at 1202.
4      1400 hrs.   0.8  0.18  23.7  Mostly sleet this past hour with only a few flakes of snow mixing in occasionally. The sleet has compacted the snow that fell earlier. The dew point is now 20 degrees F and the temperature is also now rising.
5      1500 hrs.   0.9  0.21  25.2  Sleet this past hour until 1445 when the sleet started to mix with rain. At observation time it was still more sleet than rain in the mix.
6      1600 hrs.   0.9  0.30  27.5  This hour there was more freezing rain than sleet. A glaze is developing on the snow surface and we already has a crust on the snow surface. We have had a wind gust to 20 mph at 1421. Hopefully the temp. will rise above freezing before we develop a thick glaze as it may cause power outages.
7      1700 hrs.   0.9  0.41  29.5  Around 1720 the precip. became all rain and we now have near 0.1 inches of ice.
8      1800 hrs.   0.9  0.56  32.2  It was freezing rain for most of the past hour. The temp. just went above the freezing point. The max. glaze was measured as 0.15 inches. We are lucky that in Springfield Park the temp. is now above freezing and still rising or we would have power outages.
   9      1900 hrs.   0.8  0.85  32.6  Heavy rain and above freezing now.
10      2000 hrs.   0.7  1.20  33.7  Heavy rain with above freezing temperatures and melting ice.
11      2100 hrs.   0.6  1.46  34.2  The precip ended around 2045 and the wind is increasing. By the next hour the gauges will be melted to get the corrected liquid precip. total.
12      2200 hrs.   0.6  1.47  35.4  The liquid precip. was only off 0.01 inches or a total of 1.47 inches.
The max. frozen precip. was 0.9 inches.
The max glaze was 0.15 inches.
The max. wind was 21 mph at 2041.
