Remarks for the Time Period
0916 hrs.   0.0  T  25.4   First snowflakes have started. The dew point was 14 °F before the snow at the time the radar showed snow just coming over our station about 0540. The snow was evaporating as it fell and didn't reach ground level until now. So it took about 3.5 hours to bring the humidity and dew point up enough it didn't evaporate. The dew point was about 18.5 °F when the snow started to make it to the ground.
1000 hrs.    0.2  0.02   24.0   Snow crystals are broken and irregular and small and a very few single crystals. There are no flakes falling as aggregates of many crystals. Snow is now sticking as it falls on the cement walks and our street and both are now white.
1100 hrs.    0.6   0.06   24.7   The snow crystals are nearly the same as last hour mainly broken and irregular. The snow intensity is still light as only 0.4 inches fell in the past hour.
1200 hrs.    0.9   0.09   25.5   The snow intensity is still light as only 0.3 inches fell in the past hour. The snow to liquid ratio will be checked at 1300 hours. Very low temperature for noon at West Henrico Co. - Glen Allen VA.
1300 hrs.    1.3   0.14   25.9   The snow intensity is still light as only 0.4 inches fell in the past hour but the snow is fairly steady in intensity. I found when checking the water content it was 0.01 inches more than the heated tripping bucket gauge said this was probably from evaporation caused by the heat.
1400 hrs.   1.7   0.18   26.7   The snow intensity is still light as 0.4 inches fell in the past hour. More snowflakes are now falling as aggregates or assemblages of many crystals which generally means rising temperatures aloft.
1500 hrs.    1.8   0.19   27.0   This past hour watching the radar the sleet snow interface is moving northward and is now north of Petersburg, VA and now a little sleet is mixing in with the snow here. But the precipitation intensity is now VERY light with a dry slot now approaching the area.
1600 hrs.    1.9   0.20   26.4   Not much precipitation this past hour but a little more snow than sleet. We are now in a dry slot.
1700 hrs.    1.9   0.20   26.1   A few bands of snow flurries and a little sleet mixed in but no additional accumulation this past hour. Also another dry slot seen on the radar approaching our location.
1800 hrs.    1.9   0.20   25.9   The precipitation is over and no additional accumulation this past hour.
1900 hrs.    1.9   0.21   25.7   Final check on water content gave a liquid equivalent of snow to water 9 to1 ratio. This will be the last observation.
