  • The maximum temperature today was 91.4 °F and was our first 90 °F day at West Henrico Co. - Glen Allen, VA.

  • The maximum temperature today was 97.3 °F at the West Henrico Co. - Glen Allen station the highest maximum temperature at this station since August 7, 2011 when it was also 97 °F.
    The Richmond International Airport had 98 °F which tied the record set in 1933.

  • The minimum temperature last night was 72.3 °F the highest minimum temperature since September 8, 2011 when the minimum temperature was also 72 °F.

  • JUNE 25, 2012 Storm Damage
  • The total precipitation today was 1.11 inches & for June 2.35 inches. There was 0.47 inches that fell in 5 minutes and 1.02 inches in a 20 minute period.
    The storm lasted about 30 minutes and in the heaviest part of the storm visibility was cut to less than 50 feet.
    Storm also had hail 0.25 to 0.33 inches in diameter but it only lasted from 60 to 90 seconds and did little damage.
    The peak recorded wind here was 47 mph but wind in some places was at least 60 to 70 mph.
    We had at least 5 trees, mostly oaks that were broken off about half way up in a 0.2 mile radius of this station.
    The storm was moving at about 40 mph and generated a lot of wind damage and power outages.
    There was very little lightning with the storm at this station.

  • The maximum temperature today was 103 °F at the Richmond International Airport a new record maximum temperature for the date.
    The old record was 101 °F in 1980. (Records since 1897)
    The maximum at the West Henrico Co. - Glen Allen station was 102 °F at 4:20 PM.
    It was the hottest day here since July 22, 2011 when it was also 102 °F. Friday's derecho, a widespread and long-lived violent thunderstorm complex, affected millions of people from Chicago, Ill., to Washington, DC.
    Strong winds, in many cases in excess of 70 mph, downed numerous trees and power lines from Illinois to Maryland. Over 2 million people were left without power.
