John Koontz was born at Niederndorf, Germany, in 1706, married Elizabetha
Catherine Stover in 1738 in Pennsylvania and moved to Frederick Co., Va.
The evidence that he may have been the son of Joseph Cuntze who died testate
in Stafford Co., Va., in 1731 is reviewed by the author and the descendants
of John's two sons, John and George (with particular emphasis on the former)
are carried down in many branches to the present.
The sources of
information are keyed to a section of numbered references. A number of
photographs of descendants, homes and tombstones are included. The end papers
contain maps of sections of Page County where the earlier generations of the
family and many descendants lived. There is a full index. Mr. Koontz provides
biographical data about the family members where available. |
