Total Frozen Precip. Inches Total Melted Precip. Inches Temp. °F Remarks for the Time Period
0001 hrs.    T   0.03   34.2   The snow started before midnight but just started to stick to the snow board about 2330. Snow only amounted to a trace accumulation at midnight since the ground was still pretty warm from the day, and the snow took a while before it started to stick.
0100 hrs.    0.1   0.05   32.9   Moderate to light snow but it is snowing faster than it is melting and the ground and colder surfaces are already getting white with snow.
0200 hrs.    0.4   0.09   32.7   Still near light to moderate intensity but some of snow is melting as it falls due to the warmth of yesterday. If none of the snow had melted this past hour we would have an additional 0.5 inches. Also none of the snow is sticking to the streets and walks. The snow is being measured on a snowboard that isn't under the floodlight and the depth is more than on the lighted snowboard.
0300 hrs.    0.6   0.11   32.7   The snow fall has been lighter the past hour but has increased in the past 10 to 15 minutes and the flakes have gotten larger.
0400 hrs.    0.9   0.13   32.5   Even though the temperature is only 0.5 °F above freezing the floodlight is causing added melting on the snowboard. Measurements are taken from a different snowboard not in the floodlight and this is the reason for the difference seen by the snowboard camera and the reported snow depths. The 75 watt light is 6 to 8 feet to the right of the snowboard and you can see from the snow camera that there is less snow on the right side of the snowboard.
0500 hrs.   1.0   0.14   32.5  The back edge of the snowfall is now just east of the western boundary of Powhatan County. The snow will taper off from the west and southwest. The snow camera is now only under the house floodlights about 35 feet away. The snowfall intensity is now light and has decreased this past hour. The snowfall should end in the Glen Allen - Springfield Park area except for flurries in about two hours.
0600 hrs.    1.3   0.16   32.5   The snow is about over for the Glen Allen - Springfield Park area. The roads, streets and sidewalks are clear of any snow due to the sun and warm temperatures of yesterday. Thus this snow should cause few problems.
0900 hrs.    1.2   0.21   33.3   The gauge that is used to melt the snow also evaporates some of the water thus this is checked by another gauge which recorded the water content at 0.21 inches. The snow stopped at 0605 this morning with the maximum amount on the snowboard of 1.3 inches which had melted to 1.2 inches at 0900.
