0610 hrs.   0.0  0.00  29.5  Very fine light snow just started--
0710 hrs.   0.1  Trace  28.4  Very light snow but snow is sticking as it falls on the cement walks and the edges of our street. The lawn is starting to get white and the temperature has dropped during the past hour.
0810 hrs.   0.1  Trace  28.8  The snowfall started tapering off soon after the last observation and ended around 0715-0720.
0910 hrs.   0.1  Trace  30.0  Very light snow started again at 0855. Snow crystals are broken and irregular and small.
1010 hrs.   0.2  Trace  30.0   Snowfall rate increased at 0946. Snow is fluffy with little moisture in it. Snowfall when melted is still not equal to 0.01 inch liquid.
1100 hrs.    0.5  0.03  30.0  Snowfall rate increased during the past hour but snow is melting as it falls on the street. The lawn is now getting fairly white and the temperature is pretty constant at 30 °F.
1200 hrs.   0.9  0.05  30.3  Snow rate this past hour was nearly moderate. The near moderate snow rate is causing some slush along the edges of the street. The slush is mainly in areas where the street was in shadows yesterday.
1300 hrs.   1.2  0.09  30.9  The snow rate was light during the past hour and the temperature is up 0.3 °F. The snow should decrease to flurries in the next hour.
1400 hrs.   1.3   0.10  31.1   The snow rate is now very light. Well formed six sided snow crystals that show a moderate amount of riming makes the crystals forms more muted. Also some aggregate flakes of snow mixed in the current snowfall. The snowfall should increase again around 1500.
1500 hrs.   1.4  0.11  31.0  The snow rate is now very light and during the past 15-20 minutes snow pellets have been falling. The moderate snowfall rate is occurring to our north with MD now getting the heaviest snowfall!
1600 hrs.   1.4  0.12  31.1   Very light snow pellets this past hour may have caused 0.1 inch of compaction of the earlier underlying fluffy snow.
1700 hrs.   1.5  0.14  31.4   Light snow in the form of pellets this past hour and also some individual fakes coated with moderate rime.
1800 hrs.   1.8  0.18  30.9   Light snow in the form of pellets this past hour and also some individual fakes coated with moderate rime.
1900 hrs.   2.3  0.21  30.3  Light snow in the form of pellets this past 30 to 40 minutes and also some individual fakes coated with moderate rime. The past 15-20 minutes the snow has become heavy with large flakes falling as aggregates of many crystals.
2000 hrs.   3.7   0.24   29.5   The snow rate was very heavy during the past hour with large flakes falling as aggregates of many crystals.
2100 hrs.    4.0  0.26   28.5   The snow tapered off to flurries around 2040 and only one small area of snow remains to the NW around Leeburg, VA. This 4.0 inch total will probably be the snow measurement for this storm !
2200 hrs.   4.0  0.26  27.9  Only flurries this past hour and this will end the observations for this storm.
