Total Frozen Precip. Inches Total Melted Precip. Inches Temp. °F Remarks for the Time Period
0      0700 hrs.    0.0   0.00   35.0   Very light snow started at almost exactly at 0700 and is melting as it makes contact.
1      0800 hrs.    0.0   T   34.5   Light snow melting on contact but temperature is lower this hour.
2      0900 hrs.    T   T   34.7   Light snow melting on contact but a few white patches on colder ground surfaces.
3      1000 hrs.    0.0   0.02   35.6   Currently there is a light rain - snow mix and the few white patches of snow on the colder ground has melted. The barometer has started to fall in the last 30 minutes.
   4      1100 hrs.    0.0   0.02   36.2   Currently light sprinkles.
5      1200 hrs.    0.0   0.04   35.8   Currently light snow and rain mix and a temp. drop from the past hour!
6      1300 hrs.    0.0   0.07   35.5   Currently light snow and rain mix and a slight temp. drop from the past hour!
7      1400 hrs.    0.0   0.09   35.0   Still a light snow and rain mix but more snow than rain now and a 0.5 °F temp. drop from the past hour!
8      1500 hrs.    T   0.11   34.6   Light snow now and a 0.4 °F temp. drop from the past hour; the snow is starting to stick on colder surfaces again.
9      1600 hrs.    0.2   0.13   33.7   Light to moderate snow now and lawn is starting to get white and the temperature has dropped 0.9 °F and getting near freezing now.
10    1700 hrs.    0.5   0.20   33.0   Most of the past hour the snowfall rate has been a steady moderate rate of flakes that are larger and falling as aggregates of many crystals. The lawn is now white but the snow is NOT sticking as it falls on the cement walks and our street yet.
11    1800 hrs.    1.2   0.25   32.6   Snowfall rate continues at steady moderate rate and the snow flakes are larger and falling as aggregates. The snow is now sticking as it falls on the cement walks and our street.
12    1900 hrs.    1.9   0.30   32.4   Snowfall rate continues at a moderate rate and the snow flakes are still falling as aggregates. The snow is sticking to Hemlocks, shrubs, and other trees and is becoming very scenic. Snow also packs well and is excellent for snowballs.
13    2000 hrs.    2.5   0.34   32.1   Snowfall rate decreased some in the past hour and the snow flakes are still falling as aggregates but smaller. The temperature continues to decrease and the wind has increased some in the past hour.
14    2100 hrs.    3.2   0.38   32.0   Snowfall rate increased (heavy snow rate) and aggregate size increased during the first half of the hour then decreased some in the past 30 minutes to a moderate snow rate and the temperature finally reached the freezing/ melting point.
15    2200 hrs.    3.5   0.40   32.0   Snowfall rate decreased in the past hour and the snow flakes are smaller and some of the the snow crystals show light riming many flakes are broken and irregular. I went out again between 2205 and 2210 and snow pellets were falling. This is the anniversary of the 1983 storm when 18.3 inches fell and the last 0.5 inches was all snow pellets in the 1983 storm and it was also about this hour of the night.
16    2300 hrs.    3.9   0.45   31.9   The snow pellets didn't last long (about 10 minutes) and the size of the flakes has decreased. Currently the basic form is broken and irregular particles and rarely seen single crystals. The snow has really stuck to the Hemlocks, shrubs, and trees and is becoming very scenic.
17    2400 hrs.    4.6   0.55   31.7   Observed two flashes to the SSW from what I believe was a transformer damaged by crossed power lines or from limbs on the power lines from the weight of snow. If the wind gets to just 25 to 30 mph there will be a lot of power outages. Some snow in the form of graupel now and showing heavy riming and snow pellets again and rarely single crystals.
FEBRUARY
12  -   2006
0100 hrs.    5.9   0.61   31.4   Heavy snow now with large flakes. Large aggregates or fluffy assemblages of many crystals now leaves an uneven snow surface and more air spaces in the snow and increases the snow to water ratio.
19    0200 hrs.    6.7   0.67   30.8   The heavy snow continues with large flakes assemblages of many snow crystals and the temperature is falling. The barometer is also dropping rapidly.
20    0300 hrs.    8.2   0.80   30.2   Heavy snow continues with mostly broken and irregular snow crystals along with snow pellets and some larger aggregates. The low pressure continues to deepen off the DE coast although the pressure fall is now decreasing.
21    0400 hrs.    9.8   0.89   29.4   Heavy snow continues with an increase in larger aggregates again and broken and irregular snow crystals along with and increase in wind speed in the past hour and the temperature is dropping.
22    0500 hrs.    10.9   0.98   28.8   Heavy snow still but not as heavy as last hour and smaller and fewer aggregates and more broken and irregular snow crystals with few stellar crystals and breezy and cold.
23    0600 hrs.    11.5   1.03   28.4   Heavy snow again this past hour with large aggregates or fluffy assemblages of many crystals now leaves an uneven snow surface and more air spaces in the snow and increases the snow to water ratio. The wind was very light the past hour and the barometer has stopped falling and is now rising.
24    0700 hrs.    12.3   1.11   28.4   Still heavy snow but should become moderate during the next hour. Light snow could still go on for 3 or 4 hours before tapering off.
25    0735 hrs.    12.5   1.13   28.5   This reading was taken early as the snowfall rate has become very light and settling rate may surpass the accumulation rate now. It looks like the snow is pretty much over except for flurries and VERY light snow.
26    0800 hrs.    12.5   1.14   28.6   The snowfall total stayed the same. One tenth of an inch of snow fell and one tenth of an inch of settling occurred.
